Candidate for Alaska State House - Turnagain, West Spenard, Jewel Lake, Sand Lake
Alaska is facing a critical moment, and we need bold leadership to tackle our state's pressing challenges head-on, not simply kick the can down the road. As your representative in the Alaska State House, I will be committed to addressing the key issues that matter most to Alaskans.
The Cook Inlet natural gas shortage has put us in a spot where our energy prices are projected to double, and the only solution is to spend billions on infrastructure to import CANADIAN natural gas! If that alone doesn’t describe the failure of leadership in our state, then I don’t know what does. We have abundant natural gas in Alaska and should develop our resources to be more self-reliant and promote our economy. We must also diversify our energy from renewable sources to lower costs and increase our self-reliance. As a Senate legislative aide, I was proud to carry SB 152, the Community Energy Bill that was just signed into law this August. This bill allows all Alaskans to benefit from renewable energy projects' reliability and cost savings. Our state needs to keep up the momentum with finding creative, bipartisan solutions on energy.
Our state's budget shortfalls demand responsible fiscal management and a long-term vision. I will fight to find balanced, equitable approaches to funding essential services, such as education, public safety, and infrastructure, without overburdening hardworking Alaskan families.
Securing long-term, sustainable funding for our education system is crucial for the future of our state. I will be a steadfast advocate for our students, teachers, and schools, ensuring that they have the resources they need to thrive.
I helped pass a bill in the legislature that lowered residential property taxes. I also support School Bond Debt reimbursement and municipal revenue sharing to help give the Municipality the resources it needs to meet service obligations while reducing the burden of high property taxes in Anchorage.
Keeping our communities safe is a top priority. I will work to ensure that our law enforcement agencies have the tools and resources they need to effectively protect Alaskans, while also addressing the root causes of crime through evidence-based prevention programs.
Small businesses are the backbone of Alaska's economy, and I will champion policies that foster their growth and success, including access to capital, reduced red tape, and targeted tax incentives.
Investing in our state's infrastructure, such as roads, bridges, and broadband internet, is essential for economic prosperity and quality of life. I will fight to secure the necessary funding and resources to modernize and maintain these vital systems.
